April 13, 2020 — Aramark, keeping with its 84-year history of answering the call for assistance in times of need, today announced its Uniform Services division has redeployed production lines in order to manufacture essential personal protective equipment (PPE) for the heroes working in hospitals and in other critical roles across the United States.
In the face of COVID-19, Aramark jumped into service for several partners, delivering a rapid response to their ever-changing needs in three critical areas: facilities management, environmental services and food nutrition services. With Aramark teams on-site, the speed with which the hospitals were able to ramp up for the crisis helped them operate more effectively and safely.
During these troubling times when business is anything but usual and individuals and families are struggling with food insecurity, we are working harder than ever to provide food and resources to employees and communities feeling the impact.
The coronavirus has forced higher education institutions to examine the ways they can adapt to the foodservice industry to continue operation, if necessary. It has also forced higher education institutions to take a look at what lasting changes this crisis will bring and the business practices they need to adopt.
Throughout our 84-year history, we have worked to build stronger communities, especially during times of crisis and natural disaster, when there are urgent needs. With New York City at the epicenter of the virus, we wanted to do our part to help during this critical time.
April 7, 2020 – Aramark employees will provide procurement, assembly and delivery services for at least 300,000 and up to 500,000 food and household supply packages to hospital staff across all five NYC boroughs.
One of the defining values that inspired my return to Aramark in October was the Company’s selfless passion for serving others. Never has this passion been more evident than it is today. In order to safeguard our employees and position the Company for long-term, future success, I have had to make some incredibly hard, near-term decisions that will enable us to protect the maximum number of jobs and allow our valued team members to return to Aramark as quickly as possible.
